Memphis Business Spotlight: Sunrise on Poplar and the Kitchen Sink
MEMPHIS, Nov. 4, 2026. If you're on Poplar Avenue in East Memphis in the morning, Sunrise is at 5469 Poplar Ave., in the building that used to be the Blue Plate Cafe.
Sunrise started downtown at 670 Jefferson Ave. When the owners announced the East Memphis spot, co-owner Ryan Trimm told The Commercial Appeal, "We look forward to opening up our second home out East."
My order is the Kitchen Sink with a cup of coffee. On Sunrise's menu, the Kitchen Sink is two eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns, a biscuit and Grit Girl grits. It's so good.
If eggs and grits aren't your thing, the breakfast menu also has pancakes, breakfast tacos and omelets.
Next time you're on Poplar in the morning, stop in. Check their hours before you go.
